Who we are

Together21 is a group of families with children with trisomy 21. We’re here to simply offer support, shared experience and connection for parents.

Our children range from newborn babies to primary school age, and while most of our families are in the Belfast area, we’re open to parents right across Northern Ireland.

We have close links with Positive About Down Syndrome, using their online support, resources and services. We’re also affiliated with the Down Syndrome Association.

We are an inclusive support group who are enthusiastic and passionate advocates for our children.

Our story

In February 2023 a few of us met for coffee in Belfast city centre. All of us, a parent of a child with trisomy 21. We chatted about the lack of support and social opportunities we felt we had in those early days of getting the diagnosis, right up to the present stage we each were at with our kids.

We all agreed more needed to be done for families like ours. And from here, Together21 was formed.

We started as a WhatsApp group with a handful of members, has now grown to a network of over 100 parents! Our main goal is to support each other, share information, and create opportunities for our children to thrive together.

Over our first couple of years we hosted seasonal events, fundraisers and parties for World Down Syndrome Day, and now we’ve got a busy programme of sessions for parents and tots throughout the month.

We will always commit to being a parent- and child-led group ensuring what we do matches the needs of our wonderful families.
